On 31st March 2025, IMVACS Consortium held its initial organizational meeting with the newly appointed Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) members.
DSMB members:
- Dr. Raquel Gonzales – Medical Researcher, Epidemiologist from the Universitat de Barcelona/ Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal)
- Dr. Patricia Fassinou – Pediatrician, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF)
- Dr. Sanni Ali – DSMB chair, Biostatistician and Assistant Professor in Medical Statistics with a specializing in epidemiology and public health evaluation at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)
After the introduction of the IMVACS study team to the DSMB, the project scientific coordinator Dr. Natama Magloire presented the study protocol.
Key topics discussed included:
- The study design and methodology, including components related to qualitative and economic data
- DSMB responsibilities and operating procedures
- Project timelines, including the start date of the clinical trial in Mali and in Burkina Faso
It was agreed that the first formal DSMB review meeting will take place in October/November 2025, following the completion of the third dose of vaccine.
